on March 1st 2014, L’oreal invited Nigerian Beauty bloggers to its head office in Ikeja for a morning/afternoon of Tea and Beauty!
It was absolutely Fabulous!
A big beauty blog fan myself, I finally got the opportunity to see some of the beautiful faces behind the popular beauty blogs like Love,Ifeyinwa, Blushes and Dimples, SisiYemmie, BeautyinLagos, Barbara & 1923 and many more.
More importantly, L’oreal gave us the opportunity to learn more about the Company and its new products geared towards consumers in this part of the world.
A few facts about L’oreal…
1. Did you know that L’oreal is the largest cosmetics company in the WORLD? In the cosmetics industry, L’oreal focuses on hair colour, skin care, sun protection, make-up, perfumes and hair care.
2. Did you know that L’oreal has several brands under its umbrellas including: Body Shop, Maybelline New York, Soft-sheen Carson, Mizani, Essie, Clarisonic , Kiehls and many more!
3. Did you know that L’oreal owns the very popular Dark and Lovely brand that is under Soft-sheen Carson?
…Last year, the Nigeria division of L’oreal launched Maybelline New York, a leading cosmetic line in more than 100 countries all over the world. With its launch the company introduced Colossal Mascara and Colossal Kajal (my current MUST HAVE beauty items).
This kajal in one application appears really thick and dark, perfect for when you are in a hurry.
When it comes to Mascara, Maybelline has got to be a front runner. I think every girl in has owned Great Lash (apparently this mascara sells every 1.2 seconds!)
my all time favorite maybelline mascaras are Rocket Volume and of course Colossal.
During the presentation I also learned of two new AMAZING products that will be available in the african market. They are Dark and Lovely’s Color Intensity Anti-Dryness Permanent Colour and Maybelline Clear smooth All in one powder.
This Powder is absolutely PERFECT for this our nigerian weather. It mattifies, brightens, conceals flaws, evens skin, it is oil-free, non-comedogenic (perfect for acne skin) and most importantly it contains SPF 25!!!! (SOOOO important in fighting hyperpigmentation)
If you lazy about diligently applying SPF every morning, use this powder.
The other new product is Dark and Lovely Color Intensity created for AFRICAN HAIR! yes you heard that, AFRICAN HAIR.
Finally we can dye our hair and not worry about breakage, dye dripping and touching our skin (yikes!) because this new Dye is FORTIFIED with Olive Oil which helps moisturize and condition your natural hair.
Overall, the Tea party was so much fun and informative, and we all got to take home some Maybelline and Dark and Lovely goodies! (YAYY!!).
