Q: Hello myHairmyBeauty, I’ve noticed that I have some dark marks underneath my chin from pimples and tweezing my facial hair. When I was younger I used to have a lot pimples on my chin, and sometimes I would popthem to make them go away faster, but now that I’m older I rarely have pimples just these marks that don’t seem to go away, Please what products should I use? Peju- Lagos
A: Acne marks can be one of the most annoying things to get, but good news, they are actually alot easier to erase. Now before I suggest a product, I advise that next time you get a pimple, DO NOT PICK IT! Black skin is KNOWN to PIGMENT very easily at the sight of inflammation, it is our body’s way of protecting itself.
Now speaking of products, Here is how to get rid of Dark marks left by Acne.
Step 1: Exfoliate, using a mild scrub will get rid of dead skin cells, helping the skin regenerate and turnover new skin cells.
Step 2: Treat, using a product that contains Melanin-inhibitors will help reduce the appearance of the acne marks
Step 3: Protect, while treating pigmentation left by acne, it is important that you wear SUNSCREEN 30 everyday, this helps ensure that you don’t continue to pigment in those regions you’re trying to treat.
An example of a product that does all three and that I’ve tried and tested is AMBI.
1) AMBI EVEN & CLEAR Exfoliating Wash contains little grains that physically exfoliate away dead skin cells.
2) AMBI Fade Cream contains 2% HQ and Alpha Hyrdoxy acid that help to lighten dark marks
3) AMBI Daily moisturizer also contains SPF 30 that protects the skin from UV rays.
**WARNING- The AMBI Fade cream contains 2% Hydroquinone that has be clinically accepted to treat hyperpigmentation, but it is advised that you only use this for a maximum of 3 months, it is not deemed safe to go past that period. However, AMBI does offer Hydroquinone free formulations. ****
– You can buy AMBI online on www.TwentySix85.com
