Ways you never knew you could use the Pumice stone

Pumice stone is a volcanic rock created when pressurized rock is ejected violently from a volcano. Pumice was used by Roman engineers to build domes; it is a kind of abrasive that is used in making polishes, pencil erasers or heavy duty cleaners.

Aside using the pumice stone to remove dead scaly skin from our feet known to all, here are some of the other ways it can be put to use too.

  1. Remove body hair

Did you know that Pumice stone can be used to remove unwanted hair on the body? Gently rub the pumice stone on the part of the body you want to remove hair from in a circular motion. Due to its abrasive nature it picks the hair from their roots and a repeated process will make the area completely free from hair. For sensitive skin, you can rub bar soap on the pumice stone before use.

2. Make a faded denim from an old pair

“Stone washed” denim has been trendy since the 1980’s, they are made by loading new denim with pumice stones in a machine with the stones gently scrubbing and giving them the faded look. Instead of tossing that old pair of jeans into the trash, you can get it washed and “faded” by scrubbing it with pumice stone to give it a trendy look.

3. Scent a room

If your room freshener wears out easily or does not give you the desired results, you can try this age old tradition of adding your favourite oils and fragrances to pumice stones, it will make your room smell fresher and last for longer periods of time.

4. Remove dead skin around fingernails

A damp pumice stone can be used to eliminate all forms of dead cells around the fingernails shortly before having a manicure done. It should be done carefully so as not to cause injury to the nails.

5. Pumice stone can be used to remove dead skin from the face

Just as it can be used to remove dead skin cells from the nails, You can use pumice stone to remove dead dry skin from the face. Use a wet pumice stone to gently exfoliate the face to remove all forms of old skin revealing a new beautiful layer of skin. This is probably the most delicate use of the pumice stone, do not scrub harshly or forcefully, gently scrub the face with the wet stone avoiding the delicate areas like the eyes and see how beautiful the facial skin turns out afterwards. Apply gentle moisturizers and oils after using this exfoliating method to help the skin regain its nutrients.

6. Pumice stone is used to help upholstery get rid of all forms of pet hair

Pet hairs and furs when trapped in upholstery can be very difficult to get rid of. Using a pumice stone, the hairs can be completely removed by rubbing the sofas or other upholstery with pumice stone; it traps the hair in its tiny holes making the upholstery totally clean and free from pet furs.

7. To make soaps

Pumice stones if finely grinded can be added to soaps and homemade beauty bars to help in gently exfoliating the skin and making it smooth and fresh.

8.To get rid of oil and stains from feet and hands

If you get your hands or legs messed up on dirt or ink that won’t come off easily, rub stained areas with pumice stone continuously until it goes off completely.

9. Remove stubborn toilet stains

Some toilet stains are difficult to remove even with scrubs and cleaners available. Using a pumice stone to scrub dirty areas will make your toilet sparkle as new, you can then wash off the dirt with soap and brush immediately after scrubbing with the pumice stone.
